Rodeo Bar

Being unacceptably behind in my quest for 200, I decided that friday would be a night in which I would hit the bars, and hit them hard. They fought back with a mix of fine swill and delicious bar food.
Name: Rodeo Bar
Location: 3rd Ave at 28th street
Date visited: January 8nd, 2010
Bar number: 2
Price of Guinness: $6.00, They didnt have Guinness as this was a Rodeo bar, but all their high end beers were 6 bucks.
Rating: 3/5
I had heard about Rodeo bar from my favorite food blogging website, Midtownlunch.com, and had walked by it many times on my quest to Union Square. ML had reported that along with decent happy hour specials, Rodeo bar boasted free happy hour food. Ever since my time at Maggies happy hour, free food and cheap drinks are something that I can no
t pass up.
Unfortunately, when we arrived the bar was a little crowded and grabbing a seat without “sitting down” was difficult. After a while we found some decent seats on the other side of the trailer that is parked in the middle of the bar (yes, there is a huge trailer in the middle of the bar that serves as really 2 bars). We (Jeff and I) sat down at the bar (Im now realizing i probably should have snapped a few pics of this) and wolfed down the complimentary pe
anuts with some Yinglings. We soon realized that the free happy hour food that was promised starts at 4:00, and not arriving til 6:00, we were out of luck. Hungry and increasingly buzzed, we decided to bite the bullet and sit down for some “Authentic” tex-mex grub. For me the highlight of the bar was the cool country bar atmosphere, the friendly (by friendly I mean cute waitresses) staff ,who jeff thinks was flirting with us cause she told us about her baby (named meridian by the way, as in the prime meridian) and the nachos, Im a sucker for freshly made nachos by a restaurant and not the bagged kind, but hey thats just me. All in all it was a decent bar, and If your looking for a average country hang out I wouldnt tell you to not go there. I would recommend that this place get a mechanical bull though. I dont know any self respecting country bar without a mechanical bull, its like “country bar 101″.
Bar number 2 was a good time, but it was on to bigger and better things in my quest for Bar Immortality.
Bars left to visit: 198
